Doorman
Welcome to Club Monaco!
With all the splendour glistening in a sweet-scented luxury store, doorman may not be a person you notice at all when you enter through those grand doors. However, they are a crucial element of the store, as they greet customers cordially and make them feel warmly welcomed to freely browse through the store.
I can usually step into most luxury stores no matter how frighteningly quiet the store is or how intimidating the sales are; but when it comes to Club Monaco, especially the store in Tsim Sha Tsui, I’m just slightly held back. Perhaps it is because of the name of the store, in particular, its reference to Monaco – the small sovereign city-state located in South Western Europe with an overflow of wealthy inhabitants – I always feel too ‘poor’ to go.
Well… When I was admiring its shimmering jewellery collection outside the display window today, wondering for the billionth time where on earth I could find my courage so that I could enter the store at my own risk, I was delightfully shocked when the doorman of that distinctively dynamic and international retail concept store practically invited me in through his warm-hearted smile, amiable body gesture and kind words. With his unusual affability, the ending of this blog post comes as no surprise: I betrayed my wallet.
For sure, he was happy to see the little bag I was swinging, when he bid me farewell and expressed his fondness to see me next time.
Well… It’s all karma, no?

Infinite Life
Danish model Mathias Lauridsen fronts Bruuns Bazaar Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign
Nothing gives me more pleasure than blogging about three of the things I love the most in the entire world: Mathias Lauridsen Carmen Kass, Bruuns Bazaar and last but not least, Mathias Lauridsen. For Spring/Summer 2010, the Danish label’s allure is once again captured at its most desirable state under the lens of the Danish photographer Henrik Bülow. Amidst a poetic setting by the beach, life in Bruuns Bazaar’s world is beautiful and love is bliss! We love how simple and simply chic the different pieces of the collection are. Assembled together, the whole collection reflects a distinctively laid back attitude; yet it retains a style of its own. I love the infusion of leatherwear into the collection. It gives off a strong persona that is a little bit on the wild side, yet, also soft and feminine through its finishing touches. This is the life!

Elsa Sylvan – Oh, So Super Sweet!

When it comes to selecting my favourite models, I am very critical upon who I choose; and perhaps because of that, usually by the time I am able to distinctly utter the name of my favourite model for definite and without pauses, she is not on the fashion radar anymore. Today, I am glad to announce Elsa Sylvan as my favourite model of all time. Although the sweet Swede might be a quiet speaker, her presence on the runway is nothing silent. With her strong persona and love for mother nature, she is for sure a gem in the fashion world. If you are still not sure about this 22 year old, be sure to check out her models talks by Fashion TV. Christmas is coming soooo soon and you certainly cannot have enough sweet sweet candy over this festive season. If you still don’t have your poptastic party outfits ready for battle, then, let me show you Christopher Kane’s fantastic fall/winter 2009 collection once again. First on my agenda is the celebrated designer’s velvet stripe organza dress (also known as High Volume silk-organza dress on net-a-porter £1,291). This dress is simply the divine choice for lunches, tea parties and any day time activies you would have to attend. For dinner at home, Mr. Kane’s pretty pleated satin and organza A-line dress (a.k.a Hanna silk and velvet dress £1,291) is for sure ideal to swing around the kitchen. Then, to finish the evening off with a splendid night out, you definitely cannot miss the magnificent multi-velvet stripe shift dress (also known as sleeveless crazy stripe dress on net-a-porter £2,313). I just love the remarkable work on the dress, in particular the use of these marvellous metallic appliqué in the colours of sweet irresistible candy, which creates the striking statement for an unforgettable Christmas. Plugging the words straight out of the Canadian model Alana Zimmer from a modelinia video, we have the remarkable rhetorical question: “Who doesn’t love a Rick Owens jacket?” Indeed, who doesn’t? Pumped with style yet never robbing individuality, the notable avante-garde American designer’s clothes celebrates glamour and grunge in an all-natural non-chalant way that bubbles in high-voltage coolness to its core. Super Sonia Strikes H&M

After seeing Sonia Rykiel’s line for H&M in person, I am feeling a little bit confused right now. Perhaps it is because as I stepped out the door at home, extremely excited to see the fresh new arrivals, my loving mum reminded me once again that a pair of panties of that quality could be made at $USD 1.00. Arrrrgh… Thanks, Mum!
Well… If I neglect mum’s advice, I think the prices of Sonia Rykiel’s line for H&M are reasonable, because afterall it is evidently cheaper than the real line. Nonetheless, it’s still not to my wallet’s taste, especially the headband and the oversized brooch with the playful Rykiel big bow at respectfully $USD 34.95 and $USD 24.95. As expected, the store was flooded with people today. They all snapped a monstrous chunk of sexy bras and panties intimately in their arm. The favourite amongst the crowd was understandably the design with the colourful Rykiel signature stripes. With the armful of goodies, the girls found themselves stuck in a hideous queue outside the changeroom. Only a few dared to spend and went home with a tiny little Sonia Rykiel pour H&M bag. Well… It seems like no one was willing to go completely nuts for it.

Namely, I am desperately in need of a great pair of heels for Christmas, because right now I am looking exactly like a midget. For Fall/Winter 2009, American fashion label Proenza Schouler has an astonishing assortment of shoes that is able to deduce me to become a criminal. One of them is this great pair of green satin high heeled sandals (EUR 790,00). I just adore the twinkling laminated effect created by the exquisite grosgrain silk. Mean Girl

This happened yesterday, after a long day of ogling some really really beyond great pieces from a lot of different labels, like Acne, Neil Barrett, Lanvin, Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Givenchy and etc. We finally made our way to H&M to buy the things we could truly afford and steal obtain three copies of H&M magazine on the way (Mmm… Marina Linchuk in underwear!).
The store at the time was as usual crowded with a swamp of people and amongst which, we spotted a woman, with a larger-than-her Miu Miu paper bag under her arm, struggling to squeeze through the rather tightly spaced racks in the sea of people to check out a particular extraordinaire of her taste. The sight of it was so ridiculously hilarious that it poked out my mean bone, as I spoke to my friend in English thinking that the “glamorous” owner of the fore-mentioned label would not understand a word coming from a certain blabber mouth, which spoke inconsiderately of her daring cynical thoughts: some stuff hailing from a certain peachy-pink label is just made of 100% cheese. Just as the word “overrated” was emphasised, the woman suddenly turned to look at us, took flight in a rather slapdash fashion and was gone with her overpowering big bag of goodies in a matter of microseconds. Well… Walls have ears and without the walls, oops…
