This album references the original Ozzy era all over the place,'End of the Beginning' immediately takes you back to 'Black Sabbath' whilst Iommi's solo reminds me of 'Dirty Women' from Technical Ecstacy','The Loner' has the presence of 'Johnny Blade' hanging over it,while 'Zeitgeist' clearly had 'Planet Caravan' in mind,so it goes on ...

You know what, who cares, its their legacy, they played it safe and have come up with a wonderful album, its too soon to hail it alongside the classics, only time will tell how its eventually graded, production is excellent,Iommi's riffs visceral, just as you would expect,Butler's doom laden Bass, growling in the background, while ,new boy Brad Wilk, does a sterling job,in truth you dont notice that Bill Wards not there,of course Ozzy does what Ozzy does, anyone expecting an imperious vocal delivery hasnt been listening for the last 40 odd years, that been said,i think its his best studio performance since the BLIZZARD OF OZZ days.

The 2 disc version is the one to go for, annoying as it is,it could all have easily sat one disc,of the bonus tracks 'Methademic' is superb, should have been on disc 1,a great album 4 stars easily.

I've lost my ground!!! Black Sabbath found a time machine and went back to 1979 to record a new album with some new drum techs.

It fells like a perfect continuity of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage, and Never Say Die!! Jesus!!! A Master Piece!!

I must confess that I made the preorder because I'm a true Sabbath lover, but I didn't expected something like this!! I expected something like the Ozzy solo style, which is good but .... Not my favorite style of Ozzy.

The Deluxe edition is so beautiful!! I've never seen anything like this!!

The End Of the Beginning, God is Dead?, Live Forever are pure Sabbath's Sabotage, Bloddy style improved

Loner and Zeitgeist are Never Say Die and Technical Ecstasy style, also improved - A lot!!!

Damaged Soul is something new and dark!! Lots of blues on it!!! Great!!! Garry Moore is rocking in Heaven!!! RIP

Dear Father is Black Sabbath debute and Paranoid style. It ends with the beging of the Black Sabbath song - The storm!!

Now to the Bonus tracks

This are something new!!
Methademic - Pure Heavy, no Hard Rock - with some thrash Metal bridges

Peace of Mind - Back on track with the 70's style in the first part. The second is pure Ozzy solo style.

Pariah - Ozzy Solo Style +/- -- Tony is playing like Wild in some parts.

Well A MUST HAVE!!! Don't download it!!! Buy it!! This edition is unique!!!

Now why is the album label as 13??

5.0 out of 5 stars Gargantuan Super(Jugger)naut 18 Jun 2013

This album simply had to deliver given the catalogue of events that occurred prior to it's release and it does not disappoint. Sparse production (sounding amazingly powerful) with astonishing execution and delivery from the band. Rubin was clearly onto something when he sat the band down to simply listen to early recordings to capture the "feel and atmosphere" of the defining sound they carved out in the metal genre all those years ago. In summary, awesome production that is super heavy, great lyrics and music that tip a hat to the old but will no doubt appeal to the young who with fresh ears will be hooked. Sabbath have created an astonishingly heavy set of songs that do justice to the highlights of the past but with enough of a contemporary twist to place them at the top of the tree in the current music climate. The industry with it's tired ears and fans craving for something "real" needed this album. Here it is......

5.0 out of 5 stars Riffs a plenty 28 Jun 2013

I had my doubts when I heard that 'The Sabs' were doing another album bearing in mind that Mr Iommi was having 'health issues'-get well soon Tony - we're rooting for you.

I needn't have had any worries - Riffmeister Iommi hasn't lost his touch - it's just like he has the power of the Universe pulsating through his guitar - a crying shame that the rock cognoscenti haven't put him up there alongside Beck, Page, Clapton et al.

Classic Sabbath Heavy Metal - straight from the early 1970's but with great production by Rick Rubin.

So what if the music is 'dated' - to me it sounds a great deal better than a lot of the current so called metal that's around - cue disagreements no doubt.

Here's to the next Sabbath album.

Well done guys and thank you Amazon for a speedy delivery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blown Away - Fantastic!!! 24 Jun 2013

As a Sabbath fan, all I wanted from this album was that classic 'Paranoid' Sabbath sound. Hats off to all band members for pulling this off, especially the producer Rick Rubin.

As per usual, Tonny Iommi's killer riffs are back and Ozzy's vocals are better than ever. My favorite song is 'Zeitgeist', it reminds me so much of 'Planet Caravan' from the Paranoid album.

I am extremely happy with this album!!

5.0 out of 5 stars i like it 24 Jun 2013

Was expecting to be dissapointed, but surprisingly wasn't. Sabbath said they were trying to get back to their roots in writing and prodiucing this, and i believe they more or less have. If you are looking for something vastly different to their original albums this isn't for you.
