4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect summer soundtrack 3 Jun 2013
Format:Audio CD
This year has seen a welcome injection of credible dance music penetrating the charts, with recent hits from the likes of Duke Dumont, Rudimental, and of course Disclosure. Eschewing the tiresome dubstep trend, the duo instead bring a fresh approach to deep house and garage. This works best on the jittery funk of Voices, the synth-laced stomp of Latch, and of course the pandemically contagious White Noise, which was a massive top ten hit earlier this year. With Settle, Disclosure have succeeded admirably in making a shimmering, poppy record that never fails to stay true to its electronic roots.

5.0 out of 5 stars Return to house music! 5 Jun 2013
By No name
Format:Audio CD
I completely agree with the last 2 reviews, that Disclosure along with others have helped pushed the 'deep house' (its all house music at the end of the day) to the forefront again, and taking away dubsteps limelight!

I've never been a fan of dubstep, but have been into house for 20+ years, so its refreshing to here it more in clubs festivals again.

Onto the album, Disclosures Settle is everything I hoped it to be, after first hearing Latch I loved Disclosure, this album will definitely appeal to those who liked garage or the late 90's, some tracks even give a nod to acid house of the past.

My favorite tracks are Latch, When a fire starts to burn and of course White noise, which is so catchy and possibly their biggest track to date.

Loving this album, and cant wait to see them at Global Gathering in the summer!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Selection of Styles 5 Jun 2013
Format:MP3 Download|Amazon Verified Purchase
Where to start..... well I brought the Deluxe version, it was only a little more and you get 4 extra tracks. I particularly like these 4 tracks so bit of a bonus! If you need to burn this to CD, be aware the full 18 tracks are too long for the 80min CD, choose a track you don't like or just leave off the 'Intro' track (1min long). The album is a mix of tracks that are of differing styles and is packed with 'feat' artists which provide the variations. At first I thought this would be difficult to get into but somehow the tracks 'meld' together and after a few playthroughs I'm hooked! Yes there are some tracks I like better than others but unlike many other albums my finger has avoided the 'Skip' button. To me there appears to be some underlying 80's soul/dance in here but it sounds new and fresh. If you're looking for something new buy it.

I think I saw it advertised on here. Really liked it. Felt especially cool when I saw it advertised on the underground.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice album 16 Jun 2013
Format:MP3 Download|Amazon Verified Purchase
I thought this type of music was only worth buying on compilation albums like M.O.S or Hed Kandi.
Most if this type of album are generally one good track and the rest filler.
There seems to be a touch of the scissor sisters about the vocals, (nice)
On Settle all the tracks are good, White noise was a bit grating to start but grows on you.
When a fire starts to burn is brilliant.
Nice Volume turned up, Nice in the background.Good in the car and Lively in the Gym.
I like an Album that improves with the playing.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best of 2013 3 Jun 2013
Format:Audio CD
This an album designed to played with a lot of bass in a dark room. It's strong basslines accompanied my the kick of the drums propels this album along nicely, and I would love to hear some of these tracks boomed across the dance floor of a club. I was never a fan of dubstep, so it's nice to see dance music take a step back towards house music, which I've always been a fan of.
For me this is a strong album, with quite a few nice ideas, and two or three stand out tracks. My favourite track was the second track of the album, 'When a Fire Starts to Burn'. The vocal hook goes so well with the thumping baseline, and the hi-hat adding a bit of colour. Another stand-out track for me was 'Stimulation', which was another track along the same lines as 'When the Fire Starts to Burn', with a great vocal hook backed up with an even more ferocious bassline, and driving hi-hat. I do find the instrumental tracks just don't really leave an impression on me the same way the tracks featuring vocals do.
This album, along with Rudimental' Home will certainly be among my top albums of the year, although I slightly prefer Rudimental' offering (I prefer the more melodic approach and higher tempo of Home over Settle' driving basslines). One of my few criticisms is that the album seems to run out of steam over the last couple of tracks, but maybe I just need to crank up the bass to 11 and really feel the beat.
So overall, my third favourite dance album of the year so far (Home being first, and Random Access Memories being second). If you are a fan of Rudimental, house music, or indeed just general dance, then this is a must buy. Five stars.
