I think this has to be the best non-comic book version of the character produced. It's heavily influenced by the original Stan Lee and Steve Ditko version of the character even including motifs at the end of episodes like the Spider-Man mask in the sky. The art style is simple and stylised is not to everyone's taste though I like it BUT this design choice means the animation is superb; it is more fluid and dynamic than in any previous incarnation with no repeated or re-used sequences throughout the run of the series. One will not see any better action sequences for this character than in this series.

I only put this on because I thought it would be something on Instant to keep my 3 year old quiet. He loves it and I was amazed to find I quickly started to love it myself when we watch it together.

I have never really 'got' Spider Man before. I haven't read any of the comics and the various Hollywood adaptations have always left me cold.

The action comes thick and fast in these episodes but there is plenty of room for the story to develop, and its hard not to like Peter Parker as he struggles with being a super hero and an anonymous school kid trying to fit in and figure out girls and friendships; which always seem to be complicated by some giant monstrosity attempting to smash him into bits.

The scripting and plot is tight and involving and the story develops in a satisfying arc over each episode, but you are never more than a few minutes away from an action scene; some of which really are animated spectacularly and actually quite believably. You almost wince in some of the battle scenes when Spider Man is slammed into a building, or fires his webs to escape calamity and almost gets away before being hauled back to the ground.

This is great stuff for little kids and very grown up ones!

Been waiting to see this series and many more of the other superhero ones that have been made in the past few years. I have not been disappointed!
