5.0 out of 5 stars Sennheisser HD 595 Highly recommnded.

Highly recommnded.
These are my 5th pair of Sennheissers over the last 40 years or so, although I have tried others. I still have two old models. They were very good headphones. Theses 595's totally blow away the others. They are extremely comfortable and well constructed. I use them on a reasonable hifi system of Marantz cd player and an old Trio amp that is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cable is a nuisance
Good headphones, but not much better than significantly cheaper ones from Sony, Panasonic and Technics, for example. I find the cable a little irritating. It is too long and inflexible. Kinks and coils are easily formed but very difficult to get rid of. If using on an mp3 player or iPod, be careful with the headphone jack - the weight of the headphone plug and adaptor can...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds beautiful, comfortable, 7 May 2008

Only very recently received a pair from Amazon - so not yet "run-in" for the recommended 20 hours or so. But they do carry beautiful sound straight to your ears. The ear pieces sit around the ear far more than my old HD490s did and seem to bathe the ears in sound to give a more 3d feeling. The HD595's band fit around my oversized head quite nicely. So should be comfortable for many hours.

Well worth the dosh - just think how much equivalent sounding speakers would cost! I'm somewhat concerned that my recent spate of CD and quality download music purchases might get further out of hand.

Well pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite stunning, 19 Jun 2009
This review is from: Sennheiser HD595 Open Headphone 50 ohms (Electronics)
My goodness! Having not listened to music via headphones for many a year, I am stunned at the apparent advances in sound quality. I owned a much earlier pair of Sennheisers (don't ask me what they were, my memory is not as it used to be) and thought they sounded pretty good.

But these...wow! Been a Pink Floyd fan for more years than is healthy, yet I discovered sounds on Dark Side of the Moon that I had never heard before. In fact, I've been going through my music collection with a vigour not seen since my youth.

Incredible soundscapes...nothing seems too much for these 'phones and if I didn't already own a pair, I'd buy one!

Ignore at your peril and thumbs-up to Sennheiser for making me 'listen' to music again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressed, 22 April 2008
This review is from: Sennheiser HD595 Open Headphone 50 ohms (Electronics)
I bought a pair of these after a lot of research on the internet.
I've been using them for home listening for about 6 months now. I listen to music for a few hours most nights.
I'm really impressed with these. They are exceptionally comfortable. The sound quality is what you'd expect for an audio reference phone costing over 100. I also think that they look and feel like a quality product.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE reference headphones - worth every penny., 28 Nov 2006
This review is from: Sennheiser HD595 Open Headphone 50 ohms (Electronics)
How much? See if you can try them first - you will be amazed. A full superb dynamic range - be aware that these are reference high quality headphones, so they are very neutral (with a sparkeling top end) and reflect the system they are plugged into. Great if you have Arcam/NAD driving them and for classical - however if like me you also use them to listen to a wide range of music also on a computer (Apple) a certain amount of tweaking with the graphic equaliser is needed for D&B; etc. If you mainly listen to bass heavy tunes consider Sony as well.

I used to think my previous HD495s were good until I used these and realised how 'muddy' they really were - and they are very very comfortable. Very good value for money in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent earphones!, 22 April 2009

Got these as a birthday present last August, as my old Sennheisers had packed in after 10 years of service. I have always found the sound quality of Sennheisers to be the best of any mid-range earphones and believe me, I have tried nearly every make over the years! Sometimes, however, they can be let down by poor fit/design, which means it doesn't matter how good the noise is coming from them, if you can't wear them. This is not the case with the HD595s. They are very comfortable, even with long periods of use. The sound will not let you down either. Clarity is up there with the best of them. Even if you are listening to your favouite track for the 1000th time, I can guarantee you will be able to pick out something you have never heard before. They also handle high volume with ease, but be warned. If there is someone else in the room trying to watch tv, the open nature of these phones means there is a high level of noise leak. Overall, I am delighted with them and hope they give me many more years of good use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!, 5 Mar 2008
This review is from: Sennheiser HD595 Open Headphone 50 ohms (Electronics)
Tell you what, these are just fantastic!

Just listen to some 1980's techno stuff to appreciate the incredible dynamic range of these headphones.

I had a pair of Sennheiser's bought for me in the 80's and at the time they were head and shoulders above the rest in terms of quality, but I tell you what, they weren't a patch on these!

If anybody asked, I'd say yes, go for them, the sound is so pure and the range is just incredible - superb!

5.0 out of 5 stars LET THERE BE RAWWWK!!!, 1 Oct 2008
By Jonathan Thomas "Jon Rockstar!" (Bethel North Wales) - See all my reviews

Sennheiser... I hate you.
I hate you.
I hate you.
Why?
Because nothing in my life can ever compare, or be as good, as that moment i first listened to my beloved AC/DC through these 'cans'.
Or Maiden, Lizzy, Metallica etc...
My 34 years...my life, now and forever, have.... peaked.
Sniff... quite sad really.
I believed I had led quite a life fulfilled thus far.
I was WRONG.
VERY, VERY WRONG INDEED!
Some say they see happiness and love in the eyes of their children, others see it in each sunrise, when mother nature paints the heavens in beautiful shades of red and crimson, to awaken us from our slumber and dreams, whilst other folk are ecstatic at god's own house, praying for all our sins and wishing us all good health and a passport through the pearly gates come judgement day.
FOOLS!
These are the losers without sennheiser HD595's!!!
Well I've got a set, and I'll tell you, 'Perfection Incarnate' is how they need be described, yeah... simple as.
I've bought loads of headphones, some good, some not so. i love music, but the 595's love music more. I've tried a vast variation of genres, and the 595's spank 'em all.
They have such respect for each and every instument , voice, effect etc. They can be as brutal as a kick in the bajoingazz, and as delicate as, er... snow, or something... how about '..a snowflake on a
rose petal?' No? well you do better then, see if i care!
Anyway...yeah, here's something that needs to be cleared up, as I did not pick up on it the 595's are attached to a 3m cable, that is attached to a 6.5mm jack [the big one] BUT you also get a 3.5mm connector [i pod size connector etc] so happy happy days there like.
Ok so far?!
You may have read about sound leakage? this is true. But, erm.. too bad. It's because of the 'open design' which is why they are ridiculously comfy, and don't make your ears hot and sweaty, and as a result you dont get ears that feel like a mars-bar-left-on-the-dashboard-of-your-
car-in-July syndrome. My mate Igor had to have his ears amputated for this cruel condition...not really.
I dont even know anyone called igor, I'm from Wales, not the Kremlin.
What else can I say?... oh yeah, leakage, they do leak, quite a bit, I'm not bothered, hence the 5 star rating, but it's not too bad, I mean, it's quieter for your neighbours and family than blasting a boom box, so let them thank you for buying it in the first place. Having said that I no longer listen or speak to my wife as she get's in the way of my music, I grunted at her this morning when she left for work, i think she shouted something about "...putting the pork in at 5 " but at the same time Jimmy Page pulled a killer riff on 'Kashmir' so I'm not really sure, I can't find any pork anyway, so I don't know what she was on about.
Ermm... Price wise... Phenomenal value. your life will never be the same. What price is happiness, inner-fulfillment and content ? Eh??? That's the question.... about 97, that's how much. As for me, I haven't been this happy since i made that awesome sandcastle when I was 28, or that time I broke wind from both ends at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME at my sister's wedding. It did make my mum cry though, she's never loved me.
Ok, I'm off. buy these, they are simply the best. Better than all the rest. Better than anyone. Anyone I ever met. I love you, Jon xxx

5.0 out of 5 stars The way music is supposed to sound!, 31 Jan 2010
This review is from: Sennheiser HD595 Open Headphone 50 ohms (Electronics)
These headphones are truly fantastic!

I have owned these for a few weeks now and I'm busy going through my whole newly re-invigorated music collection, the sound quality is pure and the range amazing.

Note: These are open back design so do leak sound, so if listening to loud music in quiet surroundings may irrotate those near by.

I find these very comfortable, even after many many hours of continuous use.

Try a bit Tchaikovsky or Borodin and these will truly blow you away - well done Sennheiser!

Amazon delivered within 48 hours and at market beating price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sound n build qualith excellent, 18 April 2009
This review is from: Sennheiser HD595 Open Headphone 50 ohms (Electronics)
I am not a audiophile but like quality in both sound and build. These are full marks on both for me. Very comfortable (best I have ever had), the sound is excellent in my opinion (see other reviews for techie stuff) and the build quality is excellent. I do not use the supplied stand as it is a bit limiting where the clamp arrangment will fit even with the available adjustments. I did'nt buy it for the stand. Worth the money and I think I would struggle to find better without spending a lot lot more money. I have never enjoyed headphones before but due to circumstances (kids)I need them and after some research I have chosen these. I am delighted. Good comfortable fit and hold well no movment of hphones when moving my head(on my small head others have been a loose fit). I can get lost in the music - heaven

5.0 out of 5 stars brrilliant headphones, 8 Sep 2008
By maple tree (Somerset, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sennheiser HD595 Open Headphone 50 ohms (Electronics)
Not much to add to the other reviews, just confirmation. I have used them now for well over 30 hours.

They ARE very comfortable to wear, with or without glasses, over long periods of time, etc.

The sound IS brilliant - clear and defined high and middle frequencies, clear and differentiated voice, good bass response, spatial sound effect, lots of detail.
Brand new out of the box they are good but maybe a bit dull and muted - that starts to change within the first hour or two of use and then they just keep getting better - so, don't be disappointed on first hearing them, give them sufficient burn in time and your music experience changes.

They have worked well for me with classic, jazz, latin-american and world music as well as some rock.
Highly recommended.
