Kate Walsh to Mom It Up in 'Wallflower'

Fans of the young adult novel "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" have yet another casting decision to hotly debate in comments sections around the web.

"Private Practice" star Kate Walsh has signed on to play the mom of Charlie (Logan Lerman), the titular wallflower in Stephen Chbosky's beloved book. Walsh Tweeted how excited she is about the gig.

"I guess word's out," she wrote. "Yes, shooting 'Perks of Being a Wallflower.' It's Awesome. A perfect script, delicious cast & fanfrickintastic director."

Lerman is joined by Emma "Hermione" Watson who, along with her stepbrother Patrick, introduces Charlie to a slightly less wallflower-y life than he'd previously known. "Vampire Diaries" heroine Nina Dobrev plays Charlie's sister.

Another name floating around is Paul Rudd; the actor has joined the cast but there's no official report on who he'll play. However, it seems likely that Rudd, whose adorability quotient rivals that of a Labrador puppy, »

Next Factor: 'Priest' Star (And Future Clary Fray) Lily Collins

The term "It-Girl" is overused by media types like us. It should be saved for special cases – like that of Lily Collins.

Daughter of pop icon Phil, the 22-year-old was -- until very recently -- heading toward a career as, well, a media type like us, studying broadcast journalism at USC. Then the acting bug bit, and Collins won her first movie role, playing daughter to Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock in 2009's surprise hit "The Blind Side."

Now she stars in "Priest" as Lucy, nephew to Paul Bettany's badass man of cloth, kidnapped by Karl Urban's nasty band of vampires in hopes of stoking a holy war. "I'm locked in a cage, seduced, starved," Collins laughs. "All those normal things."

In August, she'll co-star with Twi-throb Taylor Lautner in the thriller "Abduction." And in 2012, the lead roles arrive, with Collins headlining both the eagerly anticipated "Mortal Instruments" (as Ya »

Hugh Jackman Has a Metal Fetish in 'Real Steel' Trailer

Hugh Jackman has a thing for metal.

Back in the "X-Men" movies, of course, Jackman wore his metal on the inside, with claws and bones of unbreakable adamantium. But these days, it seems Jackman prefers his metal on the outside -- and if the new trailer for "Real Steel" is any indication, the alloys he's dealing with now are anything but indestructible.

"Real Steel," which is set to land in theaters this October, is kind of like "Rocky" meets "Iron Giant" by way of the Rock'em Sock'em Robots: Jackman plays a washed up ex-boxer who tries to forge a comeback as the operator of a robot fighter in what appears to be the world's first super-super-super heavyweight division.

As this new clip from Yahoo! Movies shows, though, there's more than just punching robots involved in "Real Steel" -- there's also a kid involved, as Jackman tries desperately to seize not »

'Blue Valentine' DVD/Blu-ray Worth Your Green

"The most provocative film of the year," teases the tagline on the "Blue Valentine" DVD/Blu-ray sleeve, right underneath Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams getting in on (outdoors no less).

Surefire soft-core skin flick with celebs? Not quite.

Despite what the marketing (and the film's original Nc-17 rating) might lead you to believe, "Blue Valentine" is a breakup drama that exposes more nerve endings than flesh. Sure there are a handful of admittedly frank sex scenes between the film's two gorgeous leads. Are they explicit? Not so much. Do they depict the couple's volatile dynamic? You betcha!

The critically acclaimed two-hander opens with married couple, Dean (Gosling) and Cindy (Williams), on rocky ground. To get things back to where they used to be, the two pack up and head out to a tacky themed hotel for a night away from home. Suffice to say, things don't go quite as smoothly as planned. »

Michael Fassbender and Danny Boyle Fall Into 'Trances'

Michael Fassbender is a busy man. The chameleon-like star whose credits range from the edgy "Inglorious Basterds" to the romantic "Jane Eyre," may be on the brink of adding yet another genre to his resume—thriller.

Word on the street is that Fassbender is in talks to be the first actor to join Danny Boyle's "Trances," a remake of a 2003 British movie directed by Joe Ahearne.

The flick focuses on an assistant at an auction house who masterminds an art heist and teams up with a gang of thieves—only suffer a blow to the head and wake up with amnesia. (!) More troubling still, he is the only one who knows the painting's new location, and after his continued failure to remember, the gang begins to suspect some double-dealing… so they hire a female hypnotist to get inside his head, of course.

That's when things get sticky.

If Fassbender inks the deal, »

Learn Awkward Spanish In 12 Easy Lessons With Michael Cera!

Some came down with a critical case of Cera-itus after "Superbad" actor Michael Cera did one too many films in his impeccable oversensitive-twee-wuss persona, but in a cruel twist of fate, his redeeming film ("Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World") also turned out to be his biggest flop at the box office. With the haters nullified but his clout drastically shrinking, this essentially put Cera in neutral, like Switzerland with dick jokes. What's a landlocked European country to do?

The answer is a big-time one-eighty to show what you're made of, acting-chops-wise. Twenty-two-year-old Canadian Cera is about to do just that as he hops on board "Magic, Magic," an indie thriller from Sebastian Silva, director of Sundance award-winning foreign dramedy "The Maid."

According to Variety "Magic, Magic" centers on "a girl vacationing with her friends in a remote area of Chile who slowly starts losing her mental faculties. She tries to get her friends' attention, »

10 Young Hot Asian Stars to Watch

Besides kicking off the summer-movie season – fun fact time -- May is also Asian-American and Pacific-Islander Heritage Month in the United States.

Asians have traditionally been the least-represented ethnic group in Hollywood, whether on television or films. But we've come a long way since David Carradine squinted through "Kung Fu," or the embarrassing stereotypes of houseboys, geishas, and Long Duk Dong (damn you, black eye on "Sixteen Candles"). Today, Asians on primetime and multiplexes are sexy, funny, and taking on leading roles.

We're celebrating the month by profiling 10 young and talented Asian (which we expanded to include a couple of South Asian performers) rising stars.

Brenda Song

A child model of Hmong heritage, Song landed a lucrative Disney contract at age 14. The Mouse House cast her in supporting roles in its made-for-tv movies and as the air-headish hotel heiress in the popular tween series "The Suite Life" and its spinoff "The Suite Deck, »

The Sky is Blue, Water is Wet and Al Pacino is Making a Mob Film

We're not usually in the business of reporting things like the fact that the sky is blue and hot dogs are yummy, but sometimes even the most obvious "news" is pretty cool, which is why we're pleased to tell you today that Al Pacino has signed on to do yet another movie about the mob.

Yes, in one of the best examples of someone's chocolate going great with Hollywood's peanut butter, Screen Daily is reporting that Pacino has agreed to co-star in Barry Levinson's upcoming film about New York's real life mob family, "Gotti: Three Generations."

Based on the trials and tribulations -- but mostly the trials, if you know what we mean -- of John Gotti, erstwhile head of New York's Gambino crime syndicate, "Gotti: Three Generations" has already signed on a hefty contingent of stars, including Joe Pesci, Lindsay Lohan and the husband and wife team of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, »

'Sons of Anarchy' Star Swaps Bikes for Beasts in Del Toro's 'Pacific Rim'

Charlie Hunnam, who plays the lead Jax Teller on FX's "Sons of Anarchy," spends most of his time riding on motorcycles, punching dudes in the face and blowing crap up. But if you thought the extent of his badassery ended there...well, wait until you see him fight giant monsters.

Hunnam is in talks for the starring role in Guillermo del Toro's ("Hellboy," "Pan's Labyrinth") latest, big-budget creature feature "Pacific Rim." According to Deadline, the movie would see Hunnam battling monsters -- who are wiping out the planet city by city and must be stopped! -- using advanced weaponry that only a dashing young gentlemen with flowing blonde locks can operate. Maybe not that last part, but it seems logical, especially now that Hunnam is one step away from locking the role.

Del Toro, an in-demand director with an eye for the fantastical, has had a tricky time mounting »

George Clooney and Darren Aronofsky Will Explore 'Human Nature'

The star of "Up in the Air" and the director of "Black Swan" have plans for the future.

It's been a couple of months since Darren Aronofsky jumped ship and put Marvel Films' "The Wolverine" on hiatus, but it looks like he's now found something to fill the void in his schedule: a sci-fi project called "Human Nature," according to Vulture.

George Clooney is attached to star in the film, which tells the story of a cryogenically frozen man who wakes up to a world where humans are now pets to a new dominant species.

The spec script by Jeff Welch has kind of been cryogenically frozen itself, floating around in Hollywood limbo for over 15 years, and now Aronofsky and producer Akiva Goldsman are looking to bring it to life.

Aronofsky definitely knows his way around a sci-fi movie, having wowed us with his debut film, the ultra-low-budget "Pi," and with his third film, »

First Look At the Fifth 'Final Destination'

Hollywood knows a good thing when it sees it, which is why Tinseltown proudly presents "Final Destination 5."

In the spirit of the franchise, the theme remains virtually unchanged from the previous four installments: you can't cheat death—but audiences will certainly love to watch you try.

The fifth go-round comes at us with a new initial catastrophe—the collapse of a suspension bridge—and a new cast of hot young "survivors" desperately trying to change their fates.

Led by the chiseled Nicholas D'Agosto and the angelic Emma Bell, our unlucky crew endures a creative slate of life-threatening situations that range from a nail on a balance beam to an acupuncture session gone horribly wrong. Eek.

Even the trailer's pretty much enough to make your skin crawl… but, then again, isn't that what this flick is all about?

Get the Goods: Jewelry and More From 'Thor'

Let's face it: Fashion wasn't exactly the focal point of "Thor."

Sure Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander and Rene Russo looked gorgeous, but they weren't exactly donning haute couture... or were they?

With a little imagination -- mixed with a little humor -- we were able to come up with quite a few gotta-have-it goods from "Thor." See for yourself.

Chris Hemsworth May Be the 'Huntsman' to KStew's 'Snow White'

Chris Hemsworth may be needing that horse he demanded in the pet store in "Thor" after all.

The producers of "Snow White and the Huntsman" have been having a heck of a time finding someone to take on the second half of the title role. Every pursuit, from Viggo Mortensen to Hugh Jackman to Joel Edgerton, has ended up at a dead end.

They hunt for a co-star for Kristen Stewart may now be over, though, as the offer has been officially made to Chris Hemsworth, according to Heat Vision.

Hemsworth began meeting with Universal execs last week as he was warming up to the release of "Thor," which made $65.7 million at the American box office this past weekend.

Hemsworth and Stewart? Yeah, that works. In fact... please, universe, do whatever it takes to make this happen -- we're definitely up for seeing those to frolicking about in the forest, »

Cool Clicks: Tom Hanks Is Addicted to Twitter Too

We scour the interwebs for the coolest movie news and more so you don't have to...

Our pals at JoBlo visited the set of "Larry Crowne," starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, where they quickly learned of Hanks' severe Twitter addiction and love of scooters. If that doesn't sound like a fun day on the job, we don't know what does.

Kick off your Sunday shoes, everybody! Latino Review's got "Footloose" (photos)!

It may seem hard to believe, but the folks behind the adaptation of "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" are striving for historical accuracy. With the exception, of course, of that whole vampire thing. See what they said -- and get a first look at the flick -- at the New York Times.

Cassie Clare, author of the "Mortal Instruments" book series currently being adapted into movies starring Lily Collins, has a little scoop on the casting of her two male leads, »

Johnny Depp Sets Sail with 'Pirates 4' Director for 'The Thin Man' Reboot

Now that their pirate ship has docked, versatile mega-star Johnny Depp and director Rob Marshall are readying their next big, er, skinny project.

Following "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," the two will team up once again for a reboot of "The Thin Man," a mystery/comedy series first adapted for screen back in the 1930s. The films were adapted from the book series by Dashiell Hammett and followed married couple Nick and Nora as they flirted, drank and one-lined their way through various crime-solving scenarios.

The idea of a "Thin Man" remake has been a long-gesting project -- one we reported on way back in October -- but Deadline now confirms that Depp, Marshall and the director's producing partner John DeLuca are all on board the steadily moving adaptation.

On the surface, "Thin Man" seems like the perfect match of material and talent: Depp has found gold with »

Phoenix, Hoffman, Anderson Have a Home With the Weinsteins

Where does a director go after making something as acclaimed as "There Will Be Blood"? That's what we're all hungry to know about Paul Thomas Anderson, but the director is taking his time with his follow-up.

While it lacks a title and a full cast, that next film now has a home with The Weinstein Company. And Joaquin Phoenix.

According to Deadline, the Weinsteins won a fevered bidding war for the rights to distribute Anderson's next film. It's being financed by Megan Ellison, the young heiress who's been championing and supporting a number of independent and cash-strapped films.

But Ellison can't put movies into theaters. The Weinsteins can. They can also wield a lot of publicity power come awards time, which may result in Anderson finally walking home with an Oscar or two.

Anderson will probably need power like that, since his film (once titled "The Master") is already drawing a little controversy. »

Johnny Depp, Depp-a-Likes Come Out For 'Pirates' Premiere

9 May 2011 11:31 AM, PDT

Johnny Depp was the biggest star at Saturday's "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" premiere, but he hardly walked the carpet alone:  In addition to his cast mates, there were some serious Depp lookalikes among the array of pirate jugglers on stilts roaming the event.

At least three of the Depp-a-likes were so spot on that thousands of  fans -- and at one point, even the dubious press -- went nuts screaming "Johnny, Johnny! Johnny!"

One early Johnny-wannabe was actually the stand in for Capt. Jack Sparrow in the third "Pirates."

"They brought me back for #4, so that's pretty cool," admitted Robbie Rodriquez, clad in full Sparrow regalia. He told us that he's been looking like Johnny Depp since "21 Jump Street."  And now he gets paid to look like him. Score.

Another Faux Johnny had totally perfected the voice, mannerisms and the sauced swagger. Still another was convincing because »

Stanley Tucci Is 'The Hunger Games' Host With the Most, Caesar Flickerman

9 May 2011 11:14 AM, PDT

Stanley Tucci has some major range.

Just think about it: how many Hollywood stars have the chops to appear in comedies like "The Devil Wears Prada," action blockbusters like "Captain America," family films like "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl" and psychological dramas like "The Lovely Bones," which, by the way, Tucci earned an Oscar nomination for? The guy can do pretty much anything.

But he's never done anything quite as big as this.

The speculation can end, because Lionsgate has revealed that Tucci has indeed signed on to "The Hunger Games," where he will play television personality Caesar Flickerman.

For those who don't yet know your Foxface from your elbow, here's the quick scoop: set in a nasty future world where the government is a bunch of jerks, "The Hunger Games" tells the story of a bunch of kids forced to fight to the death on national television basically for giggles and grins. »

Johnny Depp's 9 Sexiest Roles

9 May 2011 11:00 AM, PDT

The sky is blue, water is wet, and Johnny Depp is ridiculously sexy.

These are facts you just can't argue with. If you tried to argue with that last one, millions of women (and a good number of men) would descend upon you with DVDs, posters, and issues of People Magazine as evidence.

He's just so... hot, what with the chocolate eyes and those sharp cheekbones. To top it off, the man is perhaps most irresistible as a pirate -- a promiscuous, unhygienic, clearly unbathed pirate -- as he proves once again reprising the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."

Here we look at Depp's nine dreamiest roles.

9. 'Finding Neverland' (2004)

It may be wrong to see children's author J.M. Barrie as a sex symbol. But with Depp playing the legendary writer, it's inevitable. The combination of a dapper Edwardian suit, a light Scottish accent, »
