5.0 out of 5 stars Nice little bit o kit! 7 Jan 2011
By Schmo
Colour Name:BROWN|Amazon Verified Purchase
I searched and searched for the latest batch of netbook reviews, wanting to get something that was reasonably powerful, have upgrade capability, and wouldn't cost the earth. This netbook came up trumps in all areas. I really like the dual boot feature, works really well especially if you're only after jumping online quickly. Boots into Android in about 15 seconds, online in a few more.. marvellous. Win 7 Starter was very nice, but having the full version on my PC I found the restrictions a little annoying so upgraded using the "Update Anytime" feature.. again very fast and easy to use. 69 and I now have a full version of Home Premium.

I decided to upgrade the ram to 2GB to give it a little more juice when multi-tasking, but as this netbook will only really be used for net surfing, banking and email the dual-core + 2GB DDR3 should provide ample support for this.

One recommendation though, the Acer Aspire One D255 comes cluttered will loads of pointless apps and games. Removing these will speed it up some. I recommend doing this asap.

I really want to have a longer play around with it and give a more substantial review, but unfortunately I haven't the time to spend with it at the moment :(

Of the dozen or so similarly priced netbooks on available at the moment, I am truly happy I went with this one and would definitely recommend it to others.

Cheers,

5.0 out of 5 stars Far exceeded my expectations 2 April 2011
By Droid
Colour Name:BROWN|Amazon Verified Purchase
This a great bit of kit. I've been using computers since the BBC micro, and this is the most practical, least fiddly one I have ever used. Rather than this being a satellite to my desktop and laptop, I now hardly use them. With an arc keyboard and mouse, and a monitor on my desk this is now my desktop. As a university lecturer come cyclist, I just put this in my rucksack - it's so light I find myself checking the computer's really there. The upgrade to windows 7 home premium allows me to use the dual core while giving my powerpoint presentations. It plays videos with only an occasional judder, displays all my scientific PDFs and journals in colour, works well with Skype including video and has its good quality video camera. Music playback is not bad through X-mini speakers.

The downside is that it is noticeably slower in processing, but not dramatically, and I forgive it for that as it saves me so much time in other ways. You may have noticed I am not a gamer - I wouldn't recommend it for that.

4.0 out of 5 stars the last net book 17 Dec 2010
Colour Name:BLACK
A perfect little netbook,

ddr3 memory is good, fast and ( I hope ) easy to upgrade.

with hyper threading, you get 4 cores,
but with 1 G of memory you are never going to max them out.

battery life , well I get 6 plus hours of working none stop, mainly email and typing / web browsing.

OK, you want to know bad points.

SD card sticks out of side by 7 mm when inserted, not flush like other net books.
it can get knocked out in your bag.

Keys, not the best.... but they work

windows 7, better than I expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good little netbook, some issues though 26 July 2011
Colour Name:PURPLE|Amazon Verified Purchase
This netbook is neat, quite light, decent speed and so far the battery life is good. Other reviews cover this. It boots into Android quickly, adn I had no trouble working out how to set up my emails etc. in Android. I wanted a netbook that would give me access to some Android apps as well as Windows 7. The problem comes with it not being a 'phone! Android marketplace won't let me obtain any apps, as it assumes you have a phone (which has to be registered with marketplace to give you access to download any apps). I have searched the internet for a resolution to this, and so far come up with nothing. I have emailed the Marketplace but not had any answer yet.
Foolishly, in my opinion, Acer have stuffed the netbook with rubbish programs and trials I had to remove, but not included free apps with Android - not even Facebook!
So in summary, good little netbook with great flexibility, but beware problems with getting Android apps.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Netbook 10 Dec 2010
By Avi
Colour Name:RED
+ I ordered this product on tuesday night and got in home by friday noon. Very fast delivery without any extra cost.

+ Very ease first time setup no need to wait long hours. Every thing was sorted within 15min

+ Battery life good of around 8 hours, this was another main reason to purchase this netbook for me.

+ Keybord is well organized and even the small area is well utalized

+ Fast startup and shut down

+ Very responsive

+ Meet all my requirement

+ Very light

- Trail antivirus provided with this is Macfee which makes system very-very slow. Will suggest to tray any other version like AVG or norten.

- Batterly life goes down very fast if you want movie and speaker is running will hardly get around 3-4 hours of life.

- Some key which i use very frequentally like increase, descrease volumne or mute needs to be freshed with combination of Function key. Which i dont like.

- you cant personalize your system you cant even change the desktop screen/ wallpaper. Which is not good no matter how good your wallpaper is you will get bored.

I hope you all like this feedback.
