Tangled (blu ray)...top-notched video and audio, with an interesting story and wonderful characters,
By
This review is from: Tangled (Blu-ray) (Blu-ray)
Video: Rapunzel was a princess with long blond hair who lived alone in a tower. Essentially, Disney has taken that basic frame, molded a heartwarming tale that appeals to all ages, added some fun characters, and given us "Tangled". The picture was a stunning 1080p/ AVC MPEG-4 transfer framed at 1.78:1. The strong points of this release are the colors and textures. Colors burst off the screen with rich greens, deep blues, and bright yellows. Even more impressive are the textures. Character animation is spectacular. I personally think the horse "Maximus" is a real character that steals the spotlight. Skin tones are rich, fabric in clothing is realistic, and even better is the animation of hair. The animation process of her hair features over 100,000 individual strands, each reacting incredibly realistically to the surroundings. Picture was razer sharp. (5/5)
Audio: The excellent DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track does the wonderful score justice. The music is presented perfectly. Dialogue was clear and center. All the songs, composed by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, were beautifully sung by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. The song "I See The Light" was nominated for Academy Award Best Original Song for 2010, but lost to Randy Newman's "We Belong Together" in Toy Story 3. (4.5/5) Trivia: The bandit-hero's name, Flynn, and character pays homage to the classic actor Errol Flynn in the title role of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). One of the thugs plays the piano (invented in the 18th century) and refers to Mozart (1756-91), whereas the film is set centuries earlier, in the Middle Ages. Continuity: When Rapunzel and Flynn flee from soldiers in the tunnel, Pascal is sitting on Rapunzel's shoulder. However, when they reach the dam outside, Pascal cannot be seen anywhere. And as "Mother" stabs Eugene after he climbs the tower to rescue Rapunzel, the knife comes out clean, no blood. "Tangled" has an estimated budget of $260 million. Total gross in US was only $198 million. However, world gross of $559 million, would bring a lot of smiles to the Disney studio. I saw "Tangled" 3D in local theatre, and was not impressed with the clarity and focus. This 2D version of "Tangled" was much superior in every aspect, with superb video and wonderful music and songs. Most of all, this movie does have an interesting story with wonderful characters. It is a totally enjoyable movie for young and old. Highly recommended.

My Two Cents...,
By
This review is from: Tangled (DVD)
Finally Disney makes a new family classic!
With all of the sequels that Disney has been producing in recent years, I was losing hope for the company. Tangled however has given me fresh hope! It will be a classic that we will all fondly remember many years from now much like we fondly remember Disney's originals like Snow White and Cinderella. I love the spin they put on the Rapunzel story. Flynn Ryder's character development is also quite endearing. There are some unexpected twists, some suspense, some romance... basically everything a good Disney movie truly needs! I highly recommend this movie, especially if you are a fan of the old Disney movies.

If you liked the Lion King...,
This review is from: Tangled (4-Disc Combo Pack: 2-Disc Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy) (Blu-ray)
Although Disney consistently puts out great films with great stories, not since the Lion King have they truly captured the emotion of the characters like they have in Tangled.
Bottom line, this one is destined to become a particular classic in their long line of feel good animated films. On a side note though, I never liked the title of this film.

Rapunzel - Animated
It was about time that any animation studio would make a film based on one of my favorite fairy-tales - Rapunzel, and I was glad Disney is the studio to make it.

Not 3D!
Great movie, but it is NOT IN 3D, unless you have a 3D T.V. You will require a 3D Blu Ray player, 3D T.V. and a few sets of 3D glasses in order to watch the 3D disk.
