Son of O'Jays singer Eddie Levert, Gerald formed LeVert with his brother Sean and friend Marc Gordon in the mid-80s. They enjoyed four platinum-selling albums and several hit singles: "(Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop) Goes My Mind", "Casanova", "Addicted to You", "Just Coolin", "Baby I'm Ready" and "Private Line" all went to No.1 in the R&B charts between 1986-1991. As a solo artist, Gerald Levert's success continued, releasing several singles and albums into the higher reaches of the R&B charts.
In 2006, Gerald Levert was found dead in his bed. He had accidentally taken a fatal cocktail of prescription drugs.
