Review

'Death and gore galore ... Hamilton writes with ease and vigour ... Great fun' SHIVERS 'I was enthralled - a departure from the usual type of vampire tale which will have a wide appeal to any reader hunting for both chills and fun' Andre Norton 'The fights are fast and furious, with guns roaring, claws rending and wisecracks by the dozen' OUTLAND

Product Description

My name is Anita Blake but Vampires call me The Executioner. GUILTY PLEASURES: Ever since the Supreme Court granted the undead equal rights, most people think vampires are just ordinary folks with fangs. I know better. But now a serial killer is murdering vampires - and the most powerful bloodsucker in town wants me to find the killer ...THE LAUGHING CORPSE: The only death 'big enough' to raise the ancient dead is a human sacrifice. I know, because I'm an animator. A rogue animator took on the job - now he's not just raising the dead ...he's raising Hell. And it's up to me to stop it. CIRCUS OF THE DAMNED: I've being wooed by the Master Vampire of the City but now a new vampire also wants me for his human servant. A war of the undead has begun. Over me. I would be flattered - if my life weren't at stake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable!, 2 Mar 2006
By Lothiriel (Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Omnibus (Paperback)
I fell in love with this series. I know some people complain about her most recent books (from 9 or so onwards)but as I haven't got this far yet, you can consider me unbiased.

This omnibus was a godsend in a way. Namely in that books 2 and 3 were ready and waiting for me when I finished 'Guilty Pleasures'. When you read this, you'll understand why. I just couldn't bear to wait to read the next one.

The characters are brill and so is the setting. You can actually see Vamps being legal in an alternate verse. Anita Blake is a great heroine. Jean-Claude is a perfect quasi-villain. You really don't know whether to love him or hate him, but you're always eager to see him appear.

The overall plot and the characterisaions blew me away so it doesn't detract from the book at all.

Seriously, you have to read it to understand it's brilliance because I don't want to ruin it for anyone. Anita is great, her one-liners are always fun. Jean-Claude is the ultimate machiavellian player - you never know where he stands. Dolph and the RPIT crew are good support. And the villains are varied and not as obvious as you think.

Read it. You won't regret it.

This review is from: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Omnibus (Paperback)
I bought this book purely as an impuse buy and I am so glad I did. I'm not great with words so will not go on and on - but I really do recommend these books. I have since gone out and bought the next ones in the series!

2.0 out of 5 stars Repetitive
I read the first 3 books together and by the end of the third book felt that it could of been cut down to 2 if the author had cut out using the same description over and over.
