Spiral Girl Metallic Silver Jeans
I know. I know. I know. Mums are the best! Not only do they know you the best, they also almost-always provide you with the best! Like a few weeks ago, my mum, the famous Mrs X., took me to i.t. sales, because she could not stand the severe extremity I was torturing my grey “black” Ksubi jeans. Well… Surely, you can predict what was doomed to happen thereafter. We came home with a little something extra. Something that shimmers a particularly shade of silver in the dark. Ahhh… It was fate! Let’s forget all about Spring/Summer 2010 for a little white. Let’s skip back to Cruise 2010. I mean I know I should really blog about something more recent; but I just cannot put this off any longer. I am in love with Jonathan Saunders’ Cruise Collection 2010. Particularly, seeing Hanne Gaby in these explosively vibrant clothes is just amazing. She just looks so light and youthful in this optimistic collection. Looking back, I think this is definitely the perfect prelude for spring/summer 2010.

It was slightly shocking for me to see that Christopher Kane, the celebrated British designer, did not build onto last season’s glittery glam influence, despite its pleasant reception; but rather swapped it for something completely banal: checks. In a derogatory manner, it is something that reminds me of 50s housewives and boring farmers from the outback. However, worked by the magic hands of Mr. Kane, ordinary everydays checks are turned instantly into check-me-out checks! Voila! Get ready to fly in another one of Mr. Kane’s most wanted collection!

Honestly, there was one point in my life when I feel that I am too old to wear Luella. So undoubtedly, during that time, my virtual life on the web became Luella-less. However, today, when I ponder upon pictures from Luella’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, I came to that point of realisation: Luella might be cute and sweet and prim and proper, but that does not mean she is monotonous or age-specific at all. Namely, cute and sweet and prim and proper are not priviledged to young girls only, because the Luella girl is full of life and pleasant surprises.

Tilda Dahlgren and Charlie Westerberg in Cheap Monday Jeans
I have wanted to make this entry on Cheap Monday for a little while, all because I saw this sleek black doll wearing this ultra cool pair of ripped Cheap Monday jeans in the podium floor at the luxurious Lane Crawford department store. Then yesterday, I watched an interview of Swedish newcomer Frida Gustavsson on models.com. In it, the sweet Swede, who has sensationally swept New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 by storm, told us in that adorable voice of hers that she was wearing whatelse but those super sweet Swedish jeans. Well… How can I resist anymore?

Natasha Poly, Magdalena Frackowiak and Anna Selezneva in Alexander Wang
Honestly, when Alexander Wang, the 25-year-old designer, first became officially established, I never really felt that he was up for the title. Due to his youthful appearance, I always felt that he might not be a serious designer; but I was so wrong. He is just truly talented. What a visionary? The real turning point for me was when I watched one of his interviews at saksfifthavenue.com, which really demonstrated his true passion for the clothes he creates and that really made me believe in him. I appreciate his work even more now that I know more about his aesthetics and I fully understand why Freja is all “Ja! Ja!” for his clothes.
