More than 4 million students swap seats, cross boundaries |

On Nov. 16, over nine thousand schools participated in the Center's third annual Mix It Up at Lunch Day, an event designed to spark youth activism and unity by asking students to meet someone new at lunch. Across the country, participating students used a variety of methods to seat themselves with new acquaintances. In Montgomery, Ala., Booker T. Washington Magnet School students (pictured above) randomly drew from decks of cards to determine their seatmates.
